Voter Registration Information
Tuesday, May 7 is an important day for us to be able to properly maintain our facilities and grounds as well as provide for the safety of our staff and student. That is when citizens will vote for a Piqua City Schools Permanent Improvement Levy. Because the District has refinanced the Piqua Junior High School Bond Issue, it will be paid off early resulting in saving $865,034.38 and eliminating 2.2 Mills. As a result, passage of this levy will provide funding necessary for building upgrades, safety additions, and maintenance of our bus fleet while still realizing a 1 mill reduction in school taxes. The overall cost of this levy will be just 30¢ a day for a median valued house in Piqua worth $100,000.
To make sure your voice is heard in this important election, please register to vote. Many are unaware that they must register to vote again if they have moved or changed their name. Others think they are registered, but discover they are not until it is too late. Here are some of the questions we get regarding voter registration:
Am I qualified to vote? You are qualified to register if:
You are a citizen of the United States.
You are at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the election.
You have been a resident of Ohio at least 30 days before the election.
How can I register to vote? Pick Up a Card
• Pick up a voter registration card from your school’s administration office. Fill it out and return it. The staff will deliver all voter registration cards to the Miami County Board of Elections.
